Who knew being an architect could be so dangerous
"Living in Peril" is a 1996 thriller starring Robe Lowe and Jim Belushi. If I am not mistaken, this is the first time since "About Last Night..." both of these actors shared the screen. My brother and I both have a love-hate vibe for "About Last Night, but LOVE the chemistry Lowe and Belushi shared. Therefore, when we discovered they were in another movie together we had to see it. It is also nice that this DVD provides a nice widescreen presentation.
This film is about an architect named Walter Woods (Rob Lowe) who is traveling from Seattle to Los Angeles for month in order to design a home for an "off the cuff" client (Jim Belushi). Walter did have reservations about leaving for a month. His pregnant wife Linda (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) is still very much traumatized by her abusive ex-husband. This promotes nightmares and paranoid thoughts for Linda. This doesn't please Walter, but he has to...
Minor TV movie
A minor suspense film. Looks like it was made-for-cable. Okay acting. An architect, visiting LA on business, is terrorized by an unseen enemy (who may be an angry road rage trucker). The detectives investigating the incidents are especially poorly portrayed: flatly written and performed with boredom. And the prostitute with a heart of gold is sexy, but her role is just silly.
The sets and characters kept reminding me of The Landlady, a more boring film, that also had a prostitute living across the hall from the protagonist. The wife is played by Dana Wheeler-Nicholson (who was great in Circuitry Man), who seems to have shot her few scenes in one day, in the same room (aside from a shot at the end).
I'm giving it a generous three stars because it was still entertaining, in a low-brow/low-budget sort of way.
love this movie
A dark, dry, comedic mystery/drama of a crazy murder plot for revenge. I always loved this movie and it was never available for many years. I got a copy of it on VHS many years ago and was thrilled when it came out on DVD. If you like strange, dark comedy. With some action and dry humor thrown in. Check this movie out!
