What Were They Thinking?

I think Jimmy Stewart gave a wonderful performance as the Airline pilot remembering the DC-3
This anthology misses the mark in its assumption that all of the performances were "big mistakes". James Stewart was a decorated B-17 Pilot in World War II, in addition to being a famous and well loved actor, and continued to serve his country as a brigadier general in the air force reserve for many years. Maybe now this will inform the makers of this anthology about "what were they thinking?", at least in the case of Jimmy Stewart. I believe a person like Mr. Stewart needs to be judged for his whole life, talents, and public service, before we go too far in trying to ridicule him for doing a short film at the end of his career that glorifies the earlier history of a profession that he loved as much as his acting profession.

Free with Prime, but still not worth it.
I'm not sure what the people who decided to release "What Were They Thinking" were thinking. I'm guessing it was something like "Hey! Here's some stuff in the public domain (or available for next to nothing)that has famous people in it, and that we can try to pass off as funny or entertaining based solely on the name we give the video!" The video is neither amusing nor interesting, and I would like to add in passing that Amazon needs to hire people who know the difference between "would of" and "would have" to write the capsule descriptions on their videos. (Need a hint, Amazon? "Would of" is meaningless!)

Who titled this?
This is not a comedy. It is an assemblage of 3 shorts of different types. The first 2 were possibly used as movie trailers long ago. The first is an excellent short illustrating Jimmy's love of flying throughout life. For me, it was very moving. He (after he became famous) risked his life for our country. The second a simple narration by Jimmy of the USAF Blue Angels. The third uses Reagan in a WWII instruction film on how to differentiate fighter types during a dogfight. I'd like to chew out the guy who named this, but I suppose that he should at least be thanked for bringing to us something which would otherwise remain unseen.
